Corriere della Sera
October 26, 2001
Many leading Italian newspapers have given us a lot of space. In the Italian section you will find the summaries. We are particularly proud of this acknowlegement.
The prestigious Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera during this year has twice published articles about our degree course in Investigation Sciences. In the first article, published in February 9, 2001, replying to the question “as the investigators of the future will have to have knowledge of diverse fields, isn’t there the risk of them becoming Jack of all trades and master of none?” prof. Francesco Sidoti, the course organiser, pointed out that the course is so orientated that the student will have to specify his own professional vocation by choosing a definite sector of priority interest. This will be done by choosing specific training, specific optional subjects and a specific final exam. This way the graduate will have a broad base of general knowledge with an area freely chosen and cultivated within l’Aquila University. Through the collaboration with the Faculties of Medicine, Science, Engineering, Economy, on the whole the University of L’Aquila can offer the graduate a formation in which it is possible to choose a course structure in which the scientific component is significant (toxicology, pharmacology, ballistics, interception etc.), but not an end in itself.
In
a second article published in October 26, 2001, (Supplemento Lavoro) G. Tesorio
and I. Trovato chose 5 out of 1142 degree courses offered by Italian
universities as being particularly worthy of note. Considering that these two
gentlemen are acknowledged experts in the sector, the fact that they included Investigation
Sciences in the 5 makes us very proud. They arrive at conclusions that
strongly underline the innovative aspects of our programme: “ ….this course,
just inaugurated, is unique in Italy and among the most avant-garde at
international level”. Allow us to give our sincere thanks to the Corriere
della Sera. In a society frequently accused of corruption, nepotism and etc.,
it is a comfort to know that it is possible to obtain recognition for one’s
work on the basis of a profound knowledge and an impartial analysis.
